How It All Began

"I started out like many people having a look round the internet of possible ways of making an extra income for myself. After a variety of useless money making opportunities on the internet I stumbled upon the idea of trying to see if one could make any money with online auction sites like eBay."

"So I found myself a couple of dropshippers (not really knowing what I was going to be selling) and started testing some sales and soon found the hype of eBay not really all it was made out to be."

"Spending far too much in fees and not getting enough sales to justify even a small profit. Of course a lot of these original problems were due to a lack of research into the eBay phenomena, but as they say we learn more by our mistakes than by our success."


Development
"Slowly, I started to move myself into the market of Health and Fitness DVD’s and Books and once I had realised that dropshippers will never work due to the problems of relying on another company to fill your eBay orders. I soon sourced myself a few suppliers and started building up some stock levels and could see the beginnings of a plan to start moving forward with a business idea."

"But of course at this stage I could not really see a great deal of future working with eBay due to their ever increasing fees wiping out any small profits and eventually in 2008 I decided to branch out and have a go at my own shop on the web"


Obstacles

"Now as most people will know, companies like eBay, Amazon and other similar sites have cornered the internet market in regards to online DVD and BOOK sales, so I have really given myself a big mountain to climb to make a dent in these big boys and ultimately get some good rankings with Google, but sometimes the fun is in the challenge."

Future

"But as a business, it is not always a point of them and us. You can still use these companies to try and make an income from and it is always best to spread your options around, so currently I sell on Amazon, eBay, My Site (Health & Fitness DVDs & Books) and of course recently joining the newly created site HighStreetSale.com"

I have to admit while I am still trying to get to grips with the SEO for my website, I do rely on these other sites to bring in some sales and give me funds to keep building and increasing my number of stock lines.

"So as things stand, I will continue to work on improving my Health & Fitness Website, continue playing with my blog and keep selling the fitness products and help make the British public a little healthier"
